NOTE:
Saturday, August 26, 2006 11:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. The Asian Cultural Festival will be presented by member and affiliated organizations of the Asian American Council, Dayton, Ohio, in partnership with the City of Miamisburg. Festival-goers can imagine stepping into various Asian countries as they experience the foods, crafts, educational displays, entertainment, and adult and children's activities that feature the cultures of China, India, Japan, Korea, Pakistan, Philippines, and Vietnam. Approximately 35 professional artists will be engaged as performers and demonstrators to supplement the dance, music, and crafts of dedicated non-professional members of local ethnic organizations. The festival will begin at 11:00 a.m. and continue until 8:00 p.m. Attendees can purchase ethnic food and beverages, peruse cultural displays, and enjoy the performances of dancers, musicians, acrobats, martial arts experts, etc. The Family Activity Center will feature participation in ethnic dance, music, story-telling, martial arts, games, and crafts (including paper-folding, kite-making, brush-writing, flower arranging, mask-making, and fishprint-making). The Chinese Dragon will wind through the crowd at periodic intervals, and a top-spinning contest for children and youth will be held between 4:00 and 6:00 p.m.
